Local Clinic Reception
ABOUT
This is a conceptual reception room for a local clinic that wanted a more friendly and welcoming atmosphere to their clinic.
WHY
Drawing from personal experiences, I wanted to create a room that moved away from the sterile and cold rooms that are usually present in clinics and hospitals. Layouts of clinics can be scary and hard to understand for patients so creating a space that had a clear layout and flow paths was important to reduce the anxiety of a new space. Providing a visualisation of the space has the potential to be viewed by patients before they’re appointment or surgery to again reduce anxiety.
HOW
To create an inviting feeling I have used warm lighting and materials with warm tones. The feature of plants can show care of not just the patients but also the plants, inspired by biophilic designs. The reception desk is visible when entering the room, with plenty of seating options for patients to choose where they feel most comfortable. Providing a visualisation of the space with the potential to be viewed by patients before they’re appointment or surgery to again reduce anxiety, while also giving new staff an easy way to understand the layout.
